The Ratings System used by DPR Events is similar to most systems used by scouting services. However, most services usually will publish players rated in the upper 80's and above. Some services will use a combination of the Star System in conjunction with the Number System. This can tend to add confusion as two different players with the same Number Rating could end up with two different Star Ratings.
Below is a short breakdown of the Number Rating System used by DPR Events. Our system uses the 100 number system to rate athletes. See below:
90 - 100 | Players rated at this level are generally believed to be projected as potentially successful early in their collegiate careers at a DI school. DI schools are typically broken down into levels of (Strongest level downward):
80 - 89 | Players rated at this level are generally believed to be projected as potentially successful early in their collegiate careers at a 4 year university; Usually DII's, NAIA's, Christian Universities.
70 - 79 | Players rated at this level is generally believed to be projected as potentially successful early in their collegiate careers at a JUCO's of varying levels with the intent of moving on to 4 year schools. Prep School may also be an option for this group as well.
50 | Players rated at this level are generally believed that enough info is not available to rate them yet. Typically scouts will attempt to view this athlete in additional settings.
These ratings are estimations made typically by people with years of experience in the sport. Players do evolve and may have access to resources that will assist them in improving their Player Rating. Player Ratings are malleable, and tend to go up and/or down depending on the age, maturity, difference in play per events evaluated in.
To achieve the best rating possible, players should constantly be evaluated in settings where competition and skills by players can be shown at the highest level available.
